A Second-Generation Texas Trial Practice
The Plummer Law Firm was founded in Houston in 2008. Its roots run further back — to a father and son who both built their careers in Texas courtrooms, and to a simple idea about who a trial lawyer is for.
The firm grew out of a family tradition of Texas trial work. Before founding it, Hugh J. Plummer, Jr. spent his early career on the civil defense side, learning how corporations and insurers build their cases, and then practiced alongside his father at Plummer & Farmer. The Plummer Law Firm was established to put that experience to work for the other side of the courtroom: individuals, families and small businesses hurt because of the conduct of another.
What We Stand For
Three commitments have shaped the firm since its first file, and they still decide which cases we take and how we work them.
- No case is too big, and no case is too small. The firm has been part of a trial team that obtained a $230 million verdict, and it has resolved thousands of individual injury claims. Both kinds of client get the same preparation.
- Every case is prepared for trial. Most cases settle — because the other side knows this firm will try the case if it does not. More than 30 cases have been tried to verdict in Texas state and federal courts.
- Principled, ethical, innovative. The firm’s leadership has built businesses in litigation finance and healthcare, and brings that understanding of the medical and financial pressure an injury puts on a family to every case.
How We Work
The firm is deliberately built around a team. Clients work directly with the attorney on their case and with a case manager who keeps them informed, coordinates medical care and answers questions in English or Spanish. Our Spanish-language practice, Abogado Hugo, grew out of years spent serving Houston’s Latin American community and operates on the same principles.
We represent clients on a contingency fee: no fee unless we win. And we handle cases across Texas — the firm’s founder has lived, practiced and tried cases in Houston, Austin and San Antonio and their surrounding counties.

South Texas College of Law Houston
Graduated with the class of 2002 and was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 2003.
Civil Defense Practice
Began at Barker Lyman, P.C., defending corporations, professionals and individuals in complex commercial, construction, personal injury and business litigation — learning early how the other side builds its case.
Plummer & Farmer
Practiced alongside his father, continuing a family tradition of Texas trial work.
The Plummer Law Firm Founded
Established in Houston to help individuals and small businesses in complex commercial and personal injury litigation.
Peer Recognition
Named a Super Lawyers Rising Star (2011–2013) and invited to join the Million Dollar Advocates Forum in 2012.
Co-Founded LitCap
Launched a litigation finance company built for trial lawyers. Its proprietary funding platform originated over $40 million in loans within 90 days of launch, and facilitated over $360 million to leading lawyers and law firms nationwide in its first three years.
Sutherland Springs
As part of a preeminent trial team, helped obtain a $230 million verdict against the United States Air Force — one of the largest mass-shooting verdicts in United States history — representing a five-year-old boy shot five times at close range.
Serving Houston’s Latin American Community
Returned to Houston and joined a high-volume practice focused on helping the Latin American community, managing a 250+ client docket and resolving over $20 million in settlements annually.
Altus Health Services
As Managing Director, built a bridge between the legal and healthcare communities across Texas, scaling a division supporting 27 independently branded free-standing emergency rooms.
The Firm Today
The Plummer Law Firm continues to represent injured Texans across the state in English and Spanish, with an eye toward all clients needing help — regardless of the size or complexity of the case.
